Beware the Wild Syrian Hamster!

I just read an interesting news story at NPR. Titled "How the Wild Hamster Was Tamed," it explains that your hamster came from Syria, a country in the Middle East. Huh!

However, Bethany N. points out that HER winter-white hamster named Badger is from Russia. So not ALL hamsters are Syrian! (Hey, if hamsters could talk, would they all have Russian and Syrian accents?)

  1. Russian hamsters are completely different to Syrian hamsters. Russians are smaller. Roborovski's are smaller, too. Chinese hamsters are smaller. Syrians are considered the bigger breed of hamster.
