Beware the Wild Syrian Hamster!

I just read an interesting news story at NPR. Titled "How the Wild Hamster Was Tamed," it explains that your hamster came from Syria, a country in the Middle East. Huh!

However, Bethany N. points out that HER winter-white hamster named Badger is from Russia. So not ALL hamsters are Syrian! (Hey, if hamsters could talk, would they all have Russian and Syrian accents?)

Save the Hamsters!

In France, there's a species called the Great Hamsters of Alsace. And there might be only a couple of hundred left.

Officials have warned France not to let the hamsters go extinct. And let's hope the hamsters are okay! There's NOTHING cute about extinction.
